The Biology Department in the College of Science, Sultan Qaboos University, in Sultanate of Oman has an academic position of Assistant/Associate Professor in Ecology.
The candidate may work in any area of field ecology. Oman has a great variety of marine habitats, with five species of nesting turtles, mangroves and coral reefs. It also has varied arid habitats, including mountains, sandy and gravel deserts. It is thus an important region for migratory birds, reptiles and plants. Candidates with experience in the use of GPS, population genetic markers or population modelling are particularly encouraged, and as part of their teaching are expected to run student field trips.
The minimum requirements for the position are:
BSc and PhD in an ecological area of biology.
At least 2 years of teaching and research experience in a recognized academic institution. All teaching is in English.
Research contributions must be demonstrated through publication in international peer-reviewed journals.
